September Newsletter

Another late newsletter! You know what that means, we have been busy, busy, busy! Yes, we have had a busy Summer! That's good though, we love it! We are so grateful to have so many wonderful clients that trust us with their loving pets!

In fact, we are so grateful to our clients that we want to offer you something special. While others offer specials to new clients, we value our current, loyal clients too, and want to offer something just for you! Book in the month of September for any dates in October and get 15% off!

Adoptable of the Month

Meet Blitzen a 3 year old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix!  This poor boy was owned and loved at one time, but somehow found himself in the animal shelter.  Sadly, it was an overcrowded shelter in the Central Valley and he was at risk of being put to sleep.  We pulled him once we heard how sweet and friendly he was.  They weren’t lying!  Blitz is a sweet and outgoing boy.  He loves people and loves training, he even knows how to sit and walk on the leash!  Blitzen is very selective about other dogs and would prefer to be an only child, so we are looking for a home where can be the only dog.  Blitz doesn’t care for cats at all so he needs a feline free home!  He has been neutered and vaccinated!  Oh, and he looks really smart in sweaters;) Come in and meet this special boy today!
Adoption fee $100 through the month of September

Success Stories
Rescue work can be very rewarding but also heartbreaking when we see dogs in our program for long periods of time.  That is why we are so thrilled that a few of our "long timers" got adopted this month!  Stanley, Mike and Faye have all found forever loving homes!!  Faye didn't go far...she was adopted by our groomer Michelle, which we are thrilled about!  Congratulations to these lucky dogs and their new families!

Cancellations
Did you have a change of plans and no longer need to board your dog?  No problem, we understand that plans change, but please, if possible, give us a quick call or email to let us know if you need to cancel.  If someone books a reservation we hold that spot until 6pm on the evening of scheduled check in, and frequently will turn away other clients thinking that we don't have room for their pets.  If we know that a scheduled pet is not arriving, it allows us to give that spot to someone else!  Thank you so much!

Summer Vacations
We are very happy to announce that our new water play yard was a huge success, especially during these hot summer months.  So many of the dogs just loved getting out for some water play time.  Take a look at these pictures and judge for yourself.

Smiling Faces
Here are some of the smiling faces of our guests from last months stay!

Even our adoptable Blitzen has something to smile about being in foster at Dublin Creek!  He'd smile even bigger if you came to meet him today!

August Newsletter

We know it is only August, but, believe it or not, we are already getting reservations for the holidays!  Please set up your pets holiday reservations today to be sure you get a spot!

Getting to Know You Program
We know how worried owners can get when they have to leave their newly adopted dogs at the kennel for the first time.  We want you to feel comfortable and we want your dogs to have a great experience with us so that they will love coming to Dublin Creek!  For this reason, we have created our new Getting to Know You program.  This option is for newly adopted adult dogs and puppies and includes a one night stay, a session of playtime and a stuffed Kong for only $40!!  This is $17 off!  The idea is that your new dogs and puppies come for a short stay, with a lot of fun so that they have a great time!  This option is available Monday-Thursdays.

Adoptable Kitten Special
We have some really wonderful kittens and adult cats available for adoption through our rescue program.  We are extending our Summer special which means that the adoption fee for them is only $30!  This includes spaying/neutering and vaccinations which have already been done.  These cats are extremely affectionate, playful, friendly and sweet!  Please come and meet Joseph, Joe, Jacqueline, Amara and Ally today!

Dog Adoptables
We also still have some really wonderful dogs available for adoption.  Because these dogs have been here for a while, we are doing our best not to accept any new rescue dogs so that we can focus our energy and efforts on these special dogs.  Remember, if you are not sure you are ready to adopt, these dogs would greatly benefit from going to live in a foster home too.  Come by and meet Faye, Andy, Jimmy, Blitzen and Mike!

Back to School Time
This time of year can be challenging for dogs, particularly dogs that were adopted over the Summer.  These dogs may have gotten used to someone being home all the time and kids going back to school can create confusion.  Help them out by trying some of these things:

-Add extra enrichment to their life by making sure that they get plenty of exercise each.

-Teach them to love being left alone by giving them a stuffed Kong when you leave each morning.  For very active dogs who have access to the yard during the day, considering stuffing a few Kongs and hiding them around the yard.

-Take your dog with you to drop off and pick up the kids from school!  Let them enjoy other errands with you as well.  Going to Starbucks?  Bring your dog along with you for the ride.  A short car ride can brighten a dog's day and they learn that they don't only go in the car when they have to go the vet. Note: Do not take your dog out when the weather is warm if you have to go inside someplace and leave them in the car.

-Many kids sporting events welcome dogs.  If your dog likes people, train and socialize your dog so that he or she can go to soccer or baseball games.

-Let it be back to school time for your dogs too!  Consider attending a dog training class to teach new skills or brush up on old ones!

Have you heard?
We are on Facebook!  If you haven't already done so, please look up Dublin Creek Kennel and "Like" us on Facebook!  We share great articles, lots of pictures and information and updates.

Share your dog heroes with us!
Is your dog a hero?  Or, does your dog have an amazing talent or job?  Maybe your dog is a search and rescue dog or a therapy dog.  If so, we would like to share your dog's story.

Congratulations Slick!
Sue is happy to announce that her standard smooth Dachshund Slick aka Dublin's Black Ice is now a CHAMPION!  At just 15 months old, Slick finished his championship with back to back 5 point majors!  A big feat for a young boy!  Slick is shown by our own resident trainer, Vicki!  Way to go Slick!

Our Smiling Guests
So many happy guests!  We can't resist sharing all these happy faces with you!

July Newsletter

Happy 4th of July!  The kennel is jumping and we are so happy to be busy and full of all your wonderful pets!  The 4th of July can be a scary time for animals with the fireworks and noise, but not when your pet is boarding at the kennel.  Because of our location, nestled back into the corner where we are and not too far from the freeway, we are generally protected from most fireworks and noise which makes it a great place for dogs to be if they don't like fireworks.  We also play soothing music to drown out any outside noise and to calm the animals.

Speaking of the 4th of July
For those of you whose are animals are not boarding this holiday, please remember to keep your pets inside on and around the 4th of July.  Did you know that the 5th of July is one of the busiest days for animal shelters?  This is because so many animals escape on the 4th when they are afraid of the fireworks.  Even when people feel that their dogs are very secure in their yards, many escape when very afraid.

Dogs in Cars
Please do not leave your dog in the car on hot or even warm days.  Did you know that when it is 75 degrees outside the temperature inside a car can creep up to 100 degrees in just 10 minutes?  Leave your dogs home when it is warm out, the risk is too great just to go for a car ride.

SMILING FACES OF OUR HAPPY GUESTS

FEATURED ADOPTABLE
FAYE
Faye is a 5 month old female terrier mix puppy.  This sweet, loving girl came to us as an 8 week old puppy with her brother Darby.  They were dumped at an overcrowded animal shelter in the Central Valley.  Because the shelter is so overcrowded with so many animals and so little space, many friendly, healthy dogs and cats are put to sleep each week because they have no place else to go.  Faye was dumped at the shelter so young that she couldn't even stay at the shelter and had to go to a foster home where they could be properly cared for.  Faye is a very sweet and cuddly girl.  She is sensitive and easygoing.  She does well with other small dogs.  Faye is very petite, only about 6 pounds so we are looking for an adult only home for her. She likes to go for walks and car rides.  We took her to an adoption event and she had a great time hanging out and meeting new people.  Faye has already been spayed and vaccinated, now she just needs to find her forever home.  Because she is our Featured Adoptable, her adoption fee is just $150 throughout the month of July.  Also, Braveheart Dog Training is donating a Beginning Class for Faye's new family.  If you or anyone you know is looking for a wonderfully sweet companion, please consider our little Faye.

Volunteer With Us
As you know, we run a rescue program where we take in unwanted dogs and cats just before they are due to be euthanized and find them new, loving, forever homes.  We currently have 9 dogs in our program.  While we give them as much as we can, we can never give them enough individual time and attention as we would like to.  We are looking for people to volunteer some of their time to simply come to the kennel and take one or more of our foster dogs for a little walk or spend a little time playing with them.  It really means the world to them to get that extra bit of one on one time and it makes them more calm and happy while in our care and more adoptable when their forever home comes along.  Just call us or stop by to help!

Puppies and Kittens and Cats, oh my!
We have many wonderful animals available for adoption.  If you or anyone you know is looking, please come our way.  We would love to find forever homes for our adoptable animals!  Here is a little peek, but visit our website at www.dublincreekanimalfoundation.com to see all of our wonderful adoptables!

June Newsletter

Oh my!  It is June 13 and our newsletter still has not gone out!  Why is that, you might ask.  Well, it is because we have been so busy taking care of your wonderful dogs and cats!  The kennel has been so busy and full of guests that needed our complete attention!  Don't worry, we aren't complaining!  We are thrilled to be able to have the trust and confidence of so many clients.  We appreciate the opportunity to care for your animals and set your mind at ease while you are away.

DUBLIN CREEK ANIMAL FOUNDATION
The Dublin Creek Animal Foundation was founded by the kennels owners, Sue and Katherine, who had been doing dog and cat rescue in the community for years, but wanted to make it official by forming a 501c3 non-profit rescue organization.  If you, or anyone you know is looking to add a new dog or cat to their family, please have them visit us.  Take a look at some of the wonderful animals we have available for adoption, just waiting for their forever homes.  And, we have many more, just visit and we will introduce you to them!

WE NEED FOSTER HOMES
Our rescue animals are fostered here at the kennel.  This means that once we get them from the shelter, we get them spayed/neutered, vaccinated and then they stay at the kennel with us until their forever homes are found.  Most of our fosters do great, but sometimes we have rescue dogs that need a little more one and one and would greatly benefit from being fostered in a home situation.  We feel that three of our current adoptables, Mike, Jimmy and Andy would benefit from going to a foster home.  This would mean that they would go to live with a family until while we continue to look for a foster home for them.  If you have room in your heart and home, please consider fostering one of these sweet guys.  You may foster as long as you choose and of course, foster homes have first chance at adopting their fosters, so, if you decide you can't part with your foster, you don't have to worry.  By the way, we also need volunteers to come by and walk our rescue dogs!  If you can spare the time, they would love to spend it with you!

WHAT'S NEW
As you know, we have spent the last couple of years making many renovations and upgrades to the kennel.  We are so happy with how well all of these changes are being received by our guests.  Please take a look at some of our guests enjoying some of the features that we have put in place just for them!

Water Yard
We recently added a second play yard that includes a water feature.  Our "pool" includes fountains and can be closed to create a full pool or a wading pool.  Some dogs enjoy playing in the fountains, others like splashing or playing ball in the pool while some just like to carefully wade or sit poolside for a drink!  Check out some of our happy campers enjoying our pool!

We also included tunnels in the yard for dogs to play in or on!  They are just loving the tunnels!

And, of course, for the dogs who prefer dry land, we still have our huge, fabulous, all grass area!  Here are some guests enjoying that area!

Lest we forget our feline friends!  Don't forget we also have our beautiful cattery where our feline guests can enjoy our climbing net, large screen TV and play time!

Our goal at Dublin Creek Kennels is to keep your pets safe, comfortable, happy and feeling loved.  We think that these happy faces say that we are doing a pretty good job!

And, as always, extra TLC is always included in your pets stay!
